CoCounsel pricing in 2026 - plans, Westlaw bundles and what small firms pay
By LegiMatch Research Team · Published October 16, 2026 · Updated October 21, 2026 · 2 min read
Short answer: Thomson Reuters doesn't publish prices for CoCounsel Legal. It's sold in plans by quote, often bundled with Westlaw. Third-party reports put CoCounsel bundles at several hundred dollars per user per month, usually on annual or multi-year terms. If you only need part of what it does, compare it with lower-cost tools.
What CoCounsel is
CoCounsel started at Casetext, which Thomson Reuters acquired in 2023. CoCounsel Legal now offers, according to Thomson Reuters:
- Deep Research grounded in Westlaw and Practical Law content
- Document review with Tabular Analysis (up to 10,000 documents against 100 questions)
- Drafting help, including Westlaw Brief Builder
- Workspaces for matters, and integrations with document management systems and Microsoft Word
How it's sold
| Item | What we know |
|---|---|
| Published price | None; "View plans" and contact sales |
| Plans | Segmented by law firms (under and over 10 attorneys), corporations and government |
| Bundles | Some plans combine CoCounsel with Westlaw (for example, Westlaw Advantage with CoCounsel Essentials) |
| Third-party estimates | Several hundred dollars per user per month for bundles; varies by plan, seats and term |
| Term | Typically annual or multi-year |
For reference, Thomson Reuters publishes Westlaw Advantage alone from $256.75 a month (single circuit) for firms up to 10 attorneys - see how much Westlaw costs.
Questions to ask in your quote
- Which CoCounsel features are included in this plan, and are there usage limits?
- Is Westlaw required, and which Westlaw content is included?
- Is the price per user, and what's the minimum term?
- What's the renewal increase, and can it be capped?
- What happens to matter workspaces and documents if you cancel?
Is CoCounsel worth it for a small firm?
- Worth it if you want one assistant for research, document review and drafting, and you already use Westlaw.
- Maybe not if your main need is finding on-point cases and checking briefs; that can cost much less.
